Fencing and Planting

Soils become prone to erosion when movements by livestock removes the surface cover and exposes bare earth. This is a particular problem along watercourses when livestock poach up the land in order to drink.

The simplest way to protect the river and it’s banks is through establishing an alternative water supply and fencing is erected to exclude the stock from the watercourse. Through this, the river channel becomes deeper and narrower, the vegetation develops and invertebrates and fish have better habitats.
