Roger Sweeting, our Chairman of over 13 years has decided to step down. Due to ongoing personal commitments, he is unable to continue this role but would like to thank everyone he has worked with throughout his tenure as Chairman for the Trust. Roger remains committed to South Cumbria Rivers Trust and as such, will continue to be a Trustee of the charity.
Historically in Thames Water, the National Rivers Authority and the Environment Agency he has worked on the effects of water quality changes on aquatic communities. Following this, Roger then worked for 8 years as the Chief Executive of the Freshwater Biological Association before retiring and joining SCRT as a Trustee.
‘Managing our freshwaters and potential changes looks like a much more complex task than we have so far understood. Together with our changing climate pattern, we must all work harder than ever to make real changes to our waters for the good of wildlife and people’. Roger Sweeting BSc PhD FIFM FLS CEnv.
We would like to thank Roger for his unwavering commitment to the Trust and for his dedication to improving the aquatic environments of south Cumbria. He will continue to take a particular interest in Windermere issues and looks forward to continuing ‘watery things’ in a more relaxed way.
