Riverfly training

For those that couldn’t attend our last session, we are running another free riverfly training event on 18th July 2022!
Did you know that by sampling riverfly, you can find out how healthy your river or beck is? That’s because the common characteristics of riverfly; their limited mobility, relatively long life cycle, presence throughout the year and specific tolerances to changes in environmental conditions make them powerful biological indicators for water quality. Nature really is amazing, right? What’s even better is that SCRT then use the information collected to make direct improvements to local rivers.
All we would need from you is to help us gather data through sampling, approximately once a month between April and September. If after one year you would like to stop then we would just ask for the sampling kit back to pass onto new volunteers.
Further event details and location will be confirmed nearer the time but if you are interested, why not come along and join us?
Please e-mail Jayne Wilkinson our catchment planning and delivery officer, to register your interest-  jayne@scrt.co.uk
We hope you can join us.
