As part of ongoing works at Over Elf Howe Farm, we will be building several leaky dam structures on tributaries of the River Kent. These dams are an example of natural flood management (NFM) as they are used to slow the flow, storing both water and sediments on the floodplain. As a result, water quality can improve and there is a reduction in the flood peak.
We will be meeting at Over Elf Howe farm, Staveley. Co-ordinates: 54.390839, -2.819459 (what3words: ///difficult.blossom.tapes), at 10am.
The site will be wet, so we advise you to bring suitable clothing and footwear (wellies, waterproof clothing), also please bring food and water with you as well.
If you can make it or would like more information, please contact Emma Wright: emma@scrt.co.uk
