Balsam Bashing – Levens Park

Roll up, roll up for another Balsam Bashing season! Fancy getting stuck in and making a visible difference to the landscape? Well then Balsam Bashing is for you.

Balsam Bashing refers to pulling Himalayan Balsam, a rapidly growing invasive non-native species (INNS)! Himalayan Balsam outcompetes native plants, which can cause erosion to riverbanks and loss of habitats. The trick is to go back to the site every year for about three years until it is eradicated from the area.

Not only are you helping to protect the area but you get an opportunity to meet new people and get more hands on with nature. Our Invasive species co-ordinator Sammy will be running this event and is on hand to answer any questions you may have.
