Balsam Bash at Rydal

This is a volunteer led Balsam Bashing event in Rydal, above Lake Windermere.
Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera) is a invasive non-native species. It spreads rapidly and can cause damage to the environment; as it out-competes native species, helps to erode riverbanks in winter and can cause increased nutrients and sedimentation in rivers.
Pulling balsam or Balsam Bashing during a certain time of year over several years, helps eradicate the spread of this invasive.
Want to learn a new skill? If you are free and fancy coming along to pull some Balsam, please contact jayne@scrt.co.uk to register your interest.
Full details and a meeting location will be confirmed nearer the time.
