David became an SCRT Trustee in June 2024.

David is a farmer and lives in Little Langdale. He and his wife farm both sheep and cattle across 1300 acres in both Kentmere and Little Langdale. David took a circuitous route into farming and earlier in his life he studied design at the National School of Furniture and later acquired a PGCE in primary education. He has taught children in schools across the Cumbria and North Lancashire, most recently in Carnforth. On his farms, he aims to produce environmentally-friendly, sustainable and regenerative food and products for people. Through his farming enterprises he strives to increase the health of the landscape; improving habitats, biodiversity and water and soil quality. He has experience of creating and delivering a range of environmental schemes. He has worked with a range of charities and organisations, including the National Trust, SCRT and The Woodland Trust, to realise landscape scale change that work for both nature and farm production.
