South Cumbria Rivers Trust – Leaky Dam Installations

As part of a project to improve in channel and floodplain habitat, we are looking for volunteers to help install small leaky dams in the Gilpin catchment. The dams slow flows, acting as water stores and trapping sediment. As a result, floodplain connection is increased, water quality in the catchment is improved and the risk of flooding downstream is reduced. SCRT are looking for volunteers to help install several leaky dams along a small beck – it’s a great opportunity to get hands on and learn a new skill!
We will be meeting at Town End, Kendal LA8 8JJ at 10:00am. (What3Words:////eats.reworked.guitar)
The site will be wet, so please bring suitable clothing and footwear. Appropriate PPE for the activity will be provided. As facilities and services are limited, please also bring food and water with you.
